The supreme mastermind behind the operation to kidnap soldiers from Earth's past and build a galactic army known as The War Games. The War Lord placed many of his own race, known only as the Aliens, amongst the soldiers as officers and commanders. This enabled him to manipulate the humans into fighting more efficiently. He also entrusted a renegade Time Lord with the role of War Chief in exchange for the secrets of time travel, which he needed to kidnap the soldiers. As the Doctor soiled relations between the War Lord and his subordinates, the whole project failed. The Doctor was unable to return the soldiers home and so called upon the Time Lords to help. They arrived and repaired the damage caused by the War Lord's plans, then placed him and his people on trial. Although the War Lord rejected the validity of the Time Lords' trial, he and his people were found guilty. The Time Lords ignored their threats and placed the War Lord and his entire planet within an impenetrable force field for eternity, effectively treating them as if they no longer existed.
