Leader of an Ice Warrior expedition to colonise Earth. He and his troops became encased inside a glacier in prehistoric times, not far from Brittanicus Base, an establishment set up during an ice age on Earth towards the beginning of the 31st century. Unburied, Varga was taken to the base and defrosted. The Ice Warrior then awoke his comrades and attempted to take over the base. However, the Doctor discovered that the ioniser in use at Brittanicus Base was sufficiently powerful to obliterate Varga's ship. The ioniser was used and Varga and his crew were killed.
