space arks
Twice mankind has utilised space craft as a kind of ark to carry humans to safety after global disasters. The first occurred when solar flares devastated the planet and the former space beacon Nerva, which had been rebuilt as a cryogenic storage station, carrying a group of selected humans led by Lazar. Another ark was built when Earth was about to be destroyed by the sun. This ark carried both miniaturised humans and Monoids, reptilian aliens whose own planet had similarly been destroyed. The destination was the planet Refusis II. There, the two races were able to settle and rebuild their respective civilisations again.
