nestenes
A shapeless, massless group-mind, that drifted through the universe, colonising other planets. They twice attempted to colonise Earth, both times using their affinity with plastic as a weapon. The first invasion was spearheaded when a small cluster of meteorites landed on Earth. These were Nestene energy units, containing enough Nestene energy to create Channing, who masterminded the subsequent plan. Channing took over a plastics factory, creating facsimiles of important government and military figures as well as the crude, killer Autons. Channing was also growing a body for the Nestene Consciousness to inhabit, which the Doctor destroyed with radio signals. In turn, these radio signals destroyed all the other Autons and facsimiles. Their second invasion was brought about by the Master, who used everyday objects such as plastic armchairs, plastic daffodils and a toy troll to kill people. The Autons were also used again, posing as jolly carnival people, handing out the lethal daffodils for free. When he realised that the Nestenes would have little use for him, the Master joined forces with the Doctor, expelling the Consciousness into deep space. Once again, cutting off the power to the Autons and the other devices destroyed them.
