The L3 robot was built by the Andromedan sleepers, who named it Drathro. It was placed in an underground complex on Earth to guard the secrets stolen from the Matrix on Gallifrey. When the Time Lords shifted Earth across the galaxy and renamed it Ravolox, fire storms destroyed much of the surface, but left Drathro intact. Drathro sought to keep the surviving humans away from his lair while he awaited the return of the Andromedans, powered only by a black light converter. The converter was blown up by an associate of Sabalom Glitz while Drathro, and the secrets, were vaporised when the Doctor sabotaged the L3's power system.
