galactic federation
A grouping of planets and peoples from across the galaxy with the shared purpose of peaceful co-existence. The Federation received an application for membership from the planet Peladon and sent a committee of assessment there, including delegates from Alpha Centauri, Mars and Arcturus, as well as a Chairman from Earth. Peladon was eventually accepted into the Federation, with Alpha Centauri remaining as permanent representative. Fifty years later, the Federation was at war with Galaxy Five and Peladon found itself at the centre of a battle for control of trisilicate, which both sides needed for their war efforts.
