Planet in the Isop galaxy and home to the Menoptra and their cattle, the Zarbi. Once a forest planet, the arrival of the Animus slowly eroded that away, leaving the surface barren and rocky. The Menoptra fled to Pictos. Below the surface lived the Optera, dwarfish descendants of the Menoptra. The surface of Vortis was covered with acid pool and had a very low atmosphere. The atmosphere, or possibly the Animus' influence, caused gold to have a mesmeric effect on anyone in contact with it. The Animus was destroyed by an Isop-Tope and the Menoptra and Optera joined together to rebuild their civilisation.
