venom grubs
The name colloquially given to the large crustacean larvae on Vortis, which were controlled, alongside the Zarbi, by the Animus. The Zarbi used the Venom Grubs as weapons as they could spit a bio-electric sting from their snouts which could severely burn or kill the enemy. However, like the Zarbi, the Venom Grubs could be freed from the control of the Animus by placing gold around their necks, and Barbara Wright used this method to stop one when she and the Menoptra launched their assault on the Animus' base, the Karzenome.
