Arrogant Victorian gentleman who believed he had been given the art of true alchemy, transmuting base metals into gold. His greed caused him to make a pact with the Daleks, allowing them access to the home of his associate, Edward Waterfield, from where they could prepare their invasion. The Daleks were searching to isolate 'the human factor' in their enemies and so avoid future defeats. Maxtible willingly submitted himself to 'the Dalek factor', becoming little more than a flesh and blood Dalek himself. He travelled to Skaro and fought against the Doctor, although in the final battle, as the Doctor enabled a civil war to break out between Daleks loyal to the Emperor Dalek and those who had been 'humanised', Maxtible fell victim to those to whom he had willingly sold his soul.
