A pawn of the Black Guardian. The Shadow was the true force in the war between Atrios and Zeos, keeping the Atrians busy while he sought the sixth segment of the Key to Time for the Black Guardian. The Doctor, having accumulated the other five, was brought before the Shadow by K9, temporarily taken over by the villain. The sixth segment was revealed to be Princess Astra and the Shadow caused her to transmute into the segment. However, the segment was rescued by the Doctor just as the military commander of Atrios fired his missiles at the Shadow's base, blowing him and his plans to dust.
