A vast vehicle, Storm Mine 4, that sifted through sandstorms to find traces of rare elements, such as Lucanol. Any crew which returned to base with brimming storage tanks would reap high benefits. To help them in their task they deployed Voc Robots. The Doctor and Leela arrived on a sandminer where the insane scientist Taren Capel was instigating a robot revolution, killing the humans. The Doctor realised that Capel was disguised as one of the crew, whose voice he changed by use of helium. The Voc Robots no longer recognised Capel and killed him. With the revolution over, the sandminer returned to base with the human survivors.
