peladon
A harsh, windswept and rocky planet within the Milky Way which sought to join the Galactic Federation. With a history steeped in superstition and culture, the struggle to gain acceptance from the advanced races of the Federation was not easy. The almost mediaeval Pels worshipped Aggedor, a huge royal beast. The High Priest of Aggedor teamed with one of the Federation delegates, Arcturus, to keep the planet out of their control. However, King Peladon eventually convinced the delegates to allow Peladon to receive membership. The planet Peladon's many tunnels were full of rich veins of trisilicate. As a result, when the Federation went to war with Galaxy 5, Peladon become more important than ever. The trisilicate was mined extensively and when working relations broke down between the miners and the nobles, the Federation apparently stepped in, sending a platoon of Ice Warriors led by Azaxyr, to ensure production continued. However, Azaxyr was really working for Galaxy 5 and once he was exposed, and killed, the war was quickly over. The nobles and the miners began relations anew, with Queen Thalira appointing one of the leading miners to the role of Chancellor.
