invasion of the mandragora helix
A sentient energy-being that existed at the furthest reaches of the cosmos and used the position of stars around planets that it wanted to occupy for a power source. It was brought to fifteenth century Italy by the Doctor where it inhabited the Brethren of the Cult of Demnos, giving their leader, Hieronymous, particularly powerful abilities. The Doctor drained the Helix energy out of Hieronymous via copper wiring and so it was cast back into the reaches of outer space. However, the Doctor noted that the stars would be realigned in the Mandragora Helix's favour towards the end of the twentieth century.
