Brought back from the past into the present as part of Operation Golden Age, the dinosaurs, including flesh eaters such as Tyrannosaurus Rex as well as herbivores such as Stegasaurus and Brontosaurus, were used to clear London of those that Professor Whitaker and Sir Charles Grover did not want in their 'new world'. Vicious and hungry, the dinosaurs successfully terrorised London. It took a considerable effort on the part of UNIT to track and kill them. The Doctor discovered what was going on and used Whitaker's Time Scoop not only to return the dinosaurs to their time, but to send Whitaker and Grover with them.
