Armoured killer robots built by the human slaves brought into E-Space by the time sensitive Tharils, before the Tharil Empire was overthrown and the humans enslaved the Tharils. The Gundan Robots were built to withstand the time winds which the Tharils travelled along, and so reach areas that the humans could never hope to approach. The Gundan Robots remained in the extra dimensional Gateway the Tharils existed in, waiting for new orders. The Doctor accidentally reactivated one which then tried to kill him. He learned the history of the Tharils from another.
