Humanoid inhabitants of a primitive planet upon which the Krotons established a base. The Gonds were simple people, learning what they were taught by the Krotons and nothing else. By this means the Krotons could ensure that the Gonds were no threat. Every so often, the Krotons selected the two brightest Gonds, the High Brains, to become their Companions, which the other Gonds believed to be a great honour. In fact, the Krotons then killed the High Brains. The Gonds were freed when the Doctor disintegrated the Krotons, leaving them to use their knowledge to develop at their own pace.
