conscience of marinus
The planet Marinus had existed in a state of peace and tranquillity due to the influence of the vast computer known as the Conscience. The Conscience controlled the minds of the populace, eliminating evil. However, fearing that the keys which controlled the machine would fall into the hands of the vicious Voords, they were sent to secret locations around the planet. The Keeper, Arbitan, entrusted the Doctor with the task of returning the keys. While the Doctor did this, Arbitan was killed by a Voord. Yartek, leader of the Voords, was later blown up with the Conscience when he used a fake key in it .
