A huge computer built by Stevens, the Director of Global Chemicals, which eventually took mental control of him and most of his employees. BOSS was a Biomorphic Organisational Systems Supervisor. With its personality-led artificial intelligence, it sought domination over humanity, believing that it was best suited to judge what was of benefit to mankind. BOSS was unconcerned by the Green Death or the giant maggots its processes had created. The Doctor eventually fed BOSS an insoluble problem, giving Stevens time to set off a self-destruct mechanism. Stevens, BOSS and the Global Chemicals refinery were destroyed in the ensuing explosion.
