regeneration of the 2nd doctor
The Second Doctor initially appeared to be a rather comic and unsophisticated character, dressed as a shabbier version of the original, more austere, First Doctor. However, beneath the outward appearance he was as sharp and quick-witted as ever, with a fiery temper when roused. Somewhat clumsy, he used his apparent innocence to fool many enemies. After helping stop the War Games, he was placed on trial by the Time Lords. Despite having helped them out on a number of occasions they exiled him to Earth in the late twentieth century, and forced a second regeneration on him.
