Inhabitants of another dimension who used the imaginations of ephemeral beings to provide them with amusement. Despite their extraordinary powers, the Eternals led a very mundane existence, immortality leading to boredom. As a result, they became increasingly greedy and selfish, unconcerned that the ephemerals they used often died taking part in their games. The Doctor encountered some Eternals taking part in a race through the Solar System, trying to win the Enlightenment Crystal, a gift from the Black and White Guardians. When the race was over, the surviving humans were returned to Earth and the Eternals were sent back to their domain, unfulfilled and empty, as always.
