The TARDIS landed in late April, 1746, shortly after the famous battle of Culloden, where the Jacobites had fallen to the English. The Redcoats were still in the area mopping up survivors, many of whom were being sold to slavers by corrupt English militia men. The Doctor was able to save members of the McLaren clan from slavery and help them escape to freedom in France, although the young piper to the clan, Jamie McCrimmon, opted to remain with the Doctor. After many adventures, the Time Lords returned Jamie to Scotland with no memories of his adventures beyond the initial one.
